As a lifetime VFW member, I receive the "VFW" magazine regularly. In two recent issues, I've seen Minnesota Congressman John Kline mentioned favorably because of "The Road Home" program for Iraq and Afghanistan vets he initiated.
The goal of the program is to give National Guardsmen and their families information, services, referral and outreach opportunities that didn't exist previously for combat zone vets. Congressman John Kline and Sen. Norm Coleman introduced this as legislation to the House and U.S. Senate early in 2007, and President Bush signed it into law in December.
Friends tell me that I was "confrontational" with those who objected to my work in Vietnam, so I probably could have used the "Road Home" program back then.
John Holley,
